Lincoln Park is home to several honorary societies, and in 2018, the Writing and Publishing Department founded its very own group for exceptional students.

Ex Libris (Latin for “from books”) is a literary honors society that recognizes students for their sustained academic excellence in the Writing and Publishing Department. Students must take a course of study that includes the most challenging classes offered in the department, and they must achieve a minimum 3.5 grade point average in those courses. They must also fulfill other requirements, which include participation in LAVA readings, demonstrating high character, and being willing to take the Ex Libris oath in Latin!

Ex Libris students are recognized and inducted at Lincoln Park’s annual Evening of Honors each May, and are eligible to wear the official silver Ex Libris cord at graduation.
