Project Write Way – Students are Writing Designers in this writing competition a la Project Runway where students are given writing challenges designed to sharpen their skills using certain literary devices, and each challenge gives students an opportunity to share their unique sense of style and talent. Each challenge is hosted by a guest judge in the literary arts field. The winner of each challenge receives a special prize.

West Clinic for Healthy Writing - “We’ll fix you write up!” – Students become word doctors and navigate the “specialties” such as Pulmonary – Breathing some life into stale writing and Wellness – Trimming the fat from an article.

The Ultimate in Upcycling – Students work in groups to upcycle a garbage bag into a piece of clothing. The writing assignments include a “Directions” or “How to” piece, a descriptive essay of the upcycled piece, a print ad campaign, and a journal entry on the collaborative process. Students model their creations, and the group with the most collective points wins a prize.
